Can somebody explain how this contest is based on voting? It's much more like a popularity contest as you can tell your friends to 'vote' for your submission every day for the next 20 or however long the contest runs for--not voting at all but a great way to game the system and allow the pet rock to win the contest.
I don't understand why entrants should be penalized for not hassling their friends, customers, family on a daily basis until the judging is complete. Either you have professional judges who determine a winner or you have some kind of fair voting, neither of which this contest seems to be!
Hi Ian, thanks for the note. The popular choice Grand Prize and Second prize are just two of 8 prizes. The other 6 are judged by an expert panel of judges via the criteria stated in the rules and on the homepage.
As for the integrity of votes, we check votes on a whole host of criteria and just because a vote appears on the site does not mean it's an eligible vote. Apps may even be disqualified if we have evidence of improper voting.
We take pride in the integrity of the competition and have designed it as such. More details can be found clearly on the homepage and the rules.
